UPCOMING PROJECTS & 2022

Spring is around the corner, and we’ve been quietly taking baby steps towards our big projects for the year.

Since we started Veseer in late October 2021, there have been feelings of gratitude/excitement/doubt/fear undulating between moments of inspiration and rest. At times, we cannot believe that the studio we’ve talked about starting in the past few years is finally a reality. Perhaps it is because of how long we’ve thought about this endeavor, that it feels familiar to link the dots we’ve planted subconsciously all this time.

Here are some snippets of our journey so far:

In December 2021, we joined Artist & Fleas for our first holiday pop-up in Berkeley, California. It was on the weekend before the Christmas holidays, so the holiday spirit attracted great crowds that came by. It was a wonderful experience meeting people as well as other amazing artists that were part of the pop-up. Thank you all for coming by, and we will definitely return again this year.

The pictures above are some process shots of a custom windowpane we’re working on. For each stained glass project, we always start with designing the pattern for the glass. Then we move on to tracing and cutting out the pattern paper that is used for cutting the glass. Each glass is hand-cut and ground to fit the pattern.

All glasses we picked out for this custom piece are also special. We can’t wait to see what it all looks like under the sunlight when it is finished :)

MORE ON WHAT’S AHEAD FOR 2022

One of the longer-term projects we’re working on for 2022 is a modular lighting collection. After making our first ambient stained glass table lamp, Bridalveil Fall, we are inspired to create more lighting projects in the future. So far we’ve experimented with a handful of paper models during our form-finding process.

Our goal is to make a portable/modular lighting set that illuminates the surrounding with warm and dimmable light. The exterior body of the light unit will be carved wood, and stained glasses are encased in the wood form.

As we get closer to the overall form, we’re looking at different stained glass colors & textures, and how light interacts with the glass.

Stay tuned for our next blog post as we move things along, and don’t forget to sign up for our mailing list below so you don’t miss out on our updates :)
